Is there anyway I can format my SSD but leave the operating system? If not, it never let me do a full format as the OS is installed. What's the best thing to do? I also have a HDD which is currently disconnected from the PC. I am sure it still has Windows on it, if I boot from my HDD and then format my SSD, will there be any damage done to it? Or can I simply install Windows to my SSD, I have a Windows 7 DVD. Also, how would I install Windows to the SSD after I fully format it?

Thanks

You cannot format and leave the old OS. You cannot format your boot drive while running windows. the windows install does provide an option to format you have to use the advanced options when choosing where to install.

If you format your SSD first (you do not need to) you can still install windows you just need to tell the computer to boot from the windows DVD.

Thanks for the replies. I installed windows again last night but never seen any option to format it, I must've missed it. I selected advanced. Where is it and what exactly does it say? Thanks.
