Hi, I'm new here so hopefully I'm in the right place. I've been having trouble with my motherboard seemingly not giving power to my ram on the left side of the motherboard (toward the io shield). Ram placed in this area gives a straight up error/undetected, while using any slot on the right side sends the system into an initialization boot loop.

My applicable system specs are as follows:

MSI Gaming Carbon x99
Intel 6850k
Corsair Dominator Platinum (3000mhz 4GB sticks)
Corsair hx 1000i power supply

So far I have tried:
Replacing the motherboard, cpu, power supply, and I'm going to try some different ram today but I don't think that's the problem. Is it possible I have two faulty motherboards? Or am I missing something?

Do you have DDR3 ram or DDR4? Try clearing CMOS (BIOS) and load defaults.
Also, try updating the BIOS.

Additionally which motherboard version do you have? Looking at the motherboard it will say like LGA 2011-V3 or V1.1 etc...

I have DDR4 ram and I clear the cmos everytime before I try to start it. It is a socket 2011-V3. The system will not even post so I can't update the bios to my knowledge.

The V3 at the end of (socket 2011-V3) is the version model. Try putting just 1 ram stick into the motherboard with no Hard drives or SSD's attached. If it will post and you can get into bios try to update it.

Well, you didn't state that you tried that already... But I guess you'll need to either go borrow a buddies ram stick or better yet put your ram in someone else's PC then you'll know if it's the motherboard.

Are you sure that you are clearing the BIOS correctly? Try pulling the battery off the motherboard and see if it boots. Don't forget to unplug the power cable from the power supply.

After you remove the battery from the motherboard just boot it without it in. It won't hurt it. I just want to see if perhaps your jumper pins are faulty if they are this will bypass that.

Well then if they didn't work when you swapped the motherboard then it's gotta be that the ram isn't supported by that motherboard manufacturer. I'd recommend buying some from the supported list, listed on their web site.

Alright im going to try to rma the board first as it is non returnable. If I have problems with the third one I get i'll have to get a new motherboard and a new case as I was specifically looking for this pcie layout. Had no idea the 6850k didnt support >2400mhz ram. I did try some 2400mhz though. Thankfully my 3000mhz ram is returnable.

You won't need to get another case, cases that support full-size motherboards such as the one you have currently also support motherboards as small as a mini atx or even a micro atx motherboard. You simply move the standoffs to the new locations.

Update your cases manual will tell you where to move them to. Or if you lost the manual go to the website manufacturer and download the PDF file for your case model.

It's a rather complicated setup, It's a fully custom watercooling loop in an inwin 303 with 2 1080s in sli. It has a 40mm rad on the top and a 26mm rad on the bottom which covers the bottom 2 pcie slots with the height of the fans. It barely fits as it is.

If I have to move a graphics card down to a lower slot I'll either have to get rid of the bottom radiator or get a bigger case that'll support both radiators and the pcie spacing. Thanks for the help though.
