Hi there tannyolaly,

Well, that is unpleasant. :(

Do you have important data stored on the drive?

You can just start with some basic troubleshooting. Grab a different USB cable and attach the drive to another USB port. That way, you will rule out a possible connection related cause. If you attach the drive to another computer, you will see if the issue is drivers related.

Also, you can go to Disk Management and Device Manager and see whether and how is the drive recognized over there. See if the drive shows up as unallocated or RAW under Disk Management.

Is the drive under warranty?

Let me know how this goes,

what windows version? you might have to manual download its driver from the internet.

is the hard drive partitioned? you will have to partition it before it will work

is the hard drive spinning up? if no then the usb port might not be providing enough power to start the drive up. make sure your also using a usb 3.0 port on your motherboard.
