Hey i just joined the pc master race and toms hardware!
I am looking to oc my i5 6600k to 4.6ghz and im wondering if ill work with a gigabyte z170 hd3 and a hyper 212 evo. Will the hd3 and a 212 evo get my i5 6600k to a stable and cool oc of 4.6ghz?

You'll just have to try it and see. There are too many variables to say yes or no. Things like the amount of vcore needed, memory, ambient temperatures, and case airflow all play a part.

Give it a shot. I'm running stable at 4.6 on a Gigabyte Gaming 5 board, i5 6600k and an air cooler. I have to set my voltage at 1.4V VCore to get it to pass Prime tests, but I can actually lower it for most everything else (even my flight simulator) and be fine. Prime is really hard on it.
