hlw guys I need a suggestion. according to fifa 17 specification, minimum cpu requirement is i3-2100. my pc specification is

cpu- core 2 duo e 8400
mobo- asus, P5e vm se
ram- 6 gb, ddr2
gup- hd 7790, oc edition

I cant play fifa 17 demo as it lags a looooot....!!! so I am planing to purchases 2nd hand core 2 quad and I have the following options
1.q8400
2.q8200
3.q6600
which one is good/better for fifa 17?
Thanks in advance

Solution
The 8400 is @15% better all around, and has virtualization support that the 8200 doesn't have, so can natively support Virtual Machine functions with no performance hit.

And yes, getting that cpu up past 3.0GHz will help in games, considerably.

Technically, Q8400 will perform better because of its higher clock of those three processors, but in real life performance all of them just a slightly different things. Because many source says that fifa 17 are memory hungry and multi-core optimized games, then i'd like to get q6600 rather than q8400 for many reasons. But a better and newer system configuration may be needed to run this game without a lagging experience.

The q6600 is a quad core, so will open up potential avenues that the c2d cpus can't cover. Bumping the fsb for better core speeds is also an option, depending on your mobo and ram. There are a few ppl who have had some success with a OC on an 8400, but it's not exactly easy, and being a dual core is a limiting factor on games that use upto 4 threads.

ok, if I purchase q6600 or 8400 will I be able to run upcoming games? I am not actually interested at oc. I will do it only if it is mandatory to play some games

Well that's the thing. Those old 775 builds are missing many instruction sets, have slower thread throughput etc, so while more than capable of running many games, combined with really slow ddr2 ram, or low speed ddr3, your output can suffer. Getting 3.2GHz from a q6600 goes a long way to alleviate that issue as many games not only have a cpu requirement, but that requirement is partially based on the speed of the cpu. A 775 is going to have issues with many current AAA titles, but would suffice for titles from 4 years ago. How well it'll run Fifa17 is impossible to honestly be accurate about. Those older pc's simply don't have the cajones that newer titles are coded to demand in performance.

Ok I am going to purchase 2nd hand q8400 tomorrow. can i run it with the stock cooler of e8400? is there any difference between the stock cooler of core 2 duo and core 2 quad?

Big difference. The q8400 is 95w, the e 8400 is 65w. If you run a c2d cooler on a c2q cpu, you'll burn it up. Either one, though, is very loud as they have tiny fans that spin at extreme high rpm.

Would be my first choice. There are others, some cheaper, that'll do just as well. Justake sure they fit LGA775, quite a few don't.
