So my R9 390's temperatures have just blown up, the only thing I can think of is crappy thermal pads/paste I'm trying MX-4 as the paste this time and I am buying fujipoly thermal pads for the vram and the memory.

I am having one heck of a time though finding exact measurements on the pads needed for each thing on the stock cooler for the MSI version. Any help would be awesome! We were able to measure the memory one as 1.44 so we'll be getting the 1.5 to make sure there is a good connection but for the vram I cannot find anything!

1. Is the gpu fan working properly?
2. Why are you using thermal paste on a fairly new gpu? Whats wrong with the stock thermal past underneath the heatsink? You would void any warranty on the GPU messing with this, it shouldn't need touched on a working GPU. Basically my thinking is a card that's a year old at most probably isn't having issues with the thermal paste, and its unlikely this would cause a problem to go from 0 to 100 in a short time frame.
3. Are you trying to overclock your GPU and possibly making it unstable?

It was a badly refurbished card. MSI's amazingly horrible refurbish department did the thermal paste wrong and completely destroyed the thermal strips. The card is 6 months old, I don't want to deal with the RMA process again. I've obtained 2 bad cards from them. Medium settings with both a room fan on the card at max, noctua pc fans at max and gpu fans at max (yes they are all working properly I have checked them) and this card is sitting at 90c. I understand that these chips get very hot as they are the fiji hawaii chips however there is still a normal range for it and this is not normal for the circumstances. I assume it's because the thermal paste and the thermal pads were completely botched. I also absolutely do not ever in any way overclock, everything is set to default minus my fan curve.

Guys please, I only need to know the sizes for the thermal pads it uses. It doesn't have any at the moment.

Edit: Forgot to update this, it uses a 1 and a 1.5mm. Went ahead and bought some fujipoly and they are quite nice.

Unfortunately no one else had the best solution, nothing related to the question of what the sizes of thermal pads are that are necessary. But hopefully this will still help other readers :]

Hey, just curious, what sized thermal pads go where? I want to put my stock cooler back on my R9 390 and I don't know what size thermal pads go where. If you have a diagram or the like, please let me know dude. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
