Hello the Internet!
As one of those plebes who has no idea what I am talking about when I say, 'I want to build a PC', I am in need of assistance.
You see, I have a low(ish?) budget of "under $1150". I don't want it to be some kind of beast, I just want to run some games at low-medium settings with no lag (for example, Dragon Age Inquisition); I just want to know if the following can do that, with the hefty price tag of $975.
Components:
AMD FM2+ A8-7600 Quad Core 3.8GHz CPU with Radeon R7 Graphics
ASUS FM2+ A68HM-K MicroATX Motherboard
2 x 8GB DDR3 Crucial CT102464BA160B (1x8G) 1600MHz Ram Module
120GB Intel 2.5" 540s Series SATA 6Gb/s SSD Drive PN SSDSC2KW120H6X1
1TB WD 3.5" 7200rpm SATA 6Gb/s Blue HDD PN WD10EZEX
ASUS R7 240 2GB PCIe Video Card PN R7240-2GD3-L
18.5" LG 19M38D-B LED Monitor
Thermaltake ATX Versa H24 Case Black USB 3.0 (No PSU) PN CA1C1-00M1NN
550 Watt Thermaltake Litepower Power Supply PN PS-LTP-0550NPCNAU
Logitech K120 Wired USB Keyboard PN 920-002582
Logitech M705 Wireless Marathon Mouse
DVD Writer ASUS 24x DRW-24D5MT Black OEM
Volans VL-UA01 USB 3.0 Audio Adapter
PCI Wireless-N TP-Link WN851ND 300Mbps Network Card TL-WN851ND
CoolerMaster Vortex Plus Heatsink and Fan
140mm Fractal Silent Series Case Fan

I read somewhere that unless you are some kind of hardcore gamer, who also does video rendering etc., then AMD is a viable option. Not sure about the graphics/video card but I heard that you only really need 2gb. Is this correct? Any suggestions to get better bang for my buck?

Help appreciated.

For you , will crush the system you listed easily.
Also includes a 240gb ssd, a far better monitor - everything you need apart from the operating system

that build is not the best bang for your buck, and it will ONLY run games at low-medium. you have alot of unnecessary parts, for example the audio and lan card should be built in to your motherboard. and AMD is good for extreme budget builds, especially A series cpus. you would do better with an intel build at your budget.

Hate to be dumb but when you say "should be", does that mean just that or are you saying it's already integrated?
Thanks!

You're Australian ?? ( assuming from some of those components which seem to be oz market only??

Explains the high price if so , when you drop $ as a currency we tend to assume the american dollar.

Just confirm your country, budget , what you actually need .
Assuming you want the full shebang here , full rower, monitor , keyboard, mouse.
What about operating system , does that need to be included in price?

Yeah, sorry. Australian. Budget less than or equal to AUD $1150.00
OS not included.

Thanks for the list included in your other response, it does indeed seem to dwarf my list in every way - save that I have to do the building, which may actually explain the price tag given to me by ComputerAlliance.com (used that site as a friend who knows more about computers than I (which says more about me than it does about him) said they were reliable).
Friend recommended GeForce 960 5 GB GPU, should I bother listening to friend?
Anyway, thanks for taking the time out of your life to help.

You have to shop around mate , I'd never buy a custom prebuild on a budget , you get charged enormous amounts.

The list above is just the best prices items I could find on partpicker at a similar pricepoint to yours but with much better performance.
If you're happy building yourself then you could drop a RX 470/480/gtx 1060 in that build still within your budget.

I wouldn't buy a 960 nowadays unless it was very very cheap - those 3 cards above just crucify it on a performance level for not much more money.

The reason I dropped a 460 in there is because you said low to medium settings & the 460 will pretty much stomp through anything on medium at a relatively cheap pricepoint.

Another $100 (which is the 960 pricepoint from what I see) nets you a 4gb 470 which will handle high settings on anything & even ultra on a lot of titles.

An i3 6100 & a 470 is a very very potent mix & probably the ultimate starter gaming PC combination for the money IMO
