So I have a :
Intel Core i3-4160 CPU @ 3.60GHz
and I noticed that it was over heating at 100c.
Opened the pc and found the stock fan was lose. Changed it for water cooling by cool master today. It now runs at around 50c.

Is this now normal for my cpu to be running at this temp?

I ran Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool : and it has passed, there was something like this that Im not 100% sure on:

Test Result - PASS
Expected Greater than 1 degrees below max
Received 49 degrees below max
Test PASSED

does this mean its 49c lower than what it should be?

Just really wanted some advice to know that its all working correctly again.

Thanks

Paul

50c under load is a very low temperature for Intel CPUs. 100c is the throttle point, so you're still 50c away from throttling.

Be aware that the "temperature" on CPUs isn't really temperature, it's just a number showing how relatively warm or cool it is. 50c on an AMD CPU is not the same as 50c on an Intel CPU, the sensors are in different places and read different things.

Honestly your i3 probably did not need watercooling, it probably just needed the stock cooler to be attached properly. My wife's PC has an i3 4150 in it which runs nearly silently under Intel's provided stock cooler, with safe temperatures.
