I built my first pc around a month ago and have multiple different issues- a pin came off my mobos usb 3.0 connector, own of the things that help my side panel slide on cams off and im getting a smell of burning plastic coming from my psu and cpu. What so i do and honestly if u do want a custom pc, just use pcspecialist.

When I built my new PC, it smelled that way too. Especially, near the back of the PSU , SLI 970's and near the CPU socket. Just think of "new car smell"..... Run the PC for a bit, turn it off, open the side panel and inspect wires, fans , and such, just to be sure nothing is wrong mechanically. My wife kept thinking I was crazy because I kept asking her to "smell" the PC.

If you smell burning plastic there's a chance you just missed one of the pieces of protective plastic they stick to a bunch of components. Sometimes they're hard to even tell they're there. Double check everything for those

The smell comes when i smell it up close and smell it and it is pretty strong but with the cpu i need only smell a few cm away from the fan. Also, is it safe to leave said covers on?

No you don't leave those covers on... did you?

They might be but i can smell it with the pc off arguably more than when it is on. Anyways ive had the pc for over a month now. The specialist shud b coming in a few days so i can ask him bout i. I do run alot of high end games like csgo which often throws my cpu up to 100 percent

I didn't. No plastic on. Left PC off few days and got a specialist who said he smelt nothing. Should I use it then call him again. CPU and PSU look fine and I think the PSU (Coolermaster 650W Bronze) might have used cheap smell however the inside smells. The guy said it was a newish smell and that my CPU was normal. Bare in mind that my CPU goes to 100% when playing CSGO.
