My hard drive started to get stuck on 'repairing disk errors'. I couldn't find a solution. I want to get some important files on it before wiping it, however when the HDD is loaded into my win 7 PC it just runs check disk which i cant get past. Any help appreciated.

Hi there dannyboy111222,

I believe you can just a data recovery tool for DOS mode. You can try to access the drive under a different OS.
Check this Ubuntu Live CD thread out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

Just grab a flash drive or a CD, boot Ubuntu from it, access your drive and get your data, reformat the drive.
Keep in mind that the HDD is most probably failing and you may need to replace it. These tools would show you what is wrong with it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

hope this will help,

this might help. Other option would be is to take it to a specialist who can restore your lost data. In the UK prices vary from about £90.00 onwards...

Thanks, but I tried the suggestions in the link and check disk is still running on startup. Maybe i'm only cancelling check disk for the c: drive(the main win 7 drive I'm booting from)? Is there any way I could cancel the check for a drive that isn't connected at the time I cancel it in the command prompt?
