Hey,

So I moved house today, first thing I did was setup my PC. It wasn't ever reaching this high of a temp before the move and the drive was pretty smooth.

The CPU is hitting 100c easily, so I thought maybe the heatsink came loose. I re-applied thermal paste and re-attached the heatsink (h100i) and boom. No difference. I can't even think what is wrong.

The BIOS menu shows the CPU at 100c while the motherboard is at 29c...Does anyone have any ideas?

Could my CPU really have gotten faulty on a 10min drive? really?! I know the heatsink still works because it lights up and when I crank up the fans I can hear them but even in the highest settings they dont bring the CPU temps down.

Oh also, after re-applying the thermal paste and turning the PC back on, I heard this crackling sounds...which worried me? Is that normal

Solution
try to reset the bios.
I know it sounds unrelated, but it helps in many cases.
if that does not help, take your system apart - every single connector and part, connect only the bare minimum and check again.
If everything OK, keep adding other parts.
