Hello Tom's hardware,

I build my own gaming pc and I am experiencing some issues while playing games, I thing my processor is underperforming but I dont know that for sure.

My specs are:
Intel Core i5 4590 @ 3.30GHz
MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8GB
Kingston HyperX fury 2x 4GB
MSI Z97 Gaming 5

My temps are looking fine; CPU 63 C max and GPU 71 C max

Please help me :)

Try hitting control, alt, and delete and bring up the resource monitor. If your cpu is doing a lot of work while idle it could be a virus or software issue. To be safe you could try running virus scan then use malwarebytes. If you need a suggestion for virus scan I suggest avast boot scan.

Yes, hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and go into Task manager. Then go under performance (it should be called that anyway) and you will see a graph (or more) showing on what percentage u cpu is working.

Since GTA V is one of the most tasking games out there, it takes a lot of percentage from ur cpu. When ur cpu percentage hits 100, it will drop frames. This is probably what u are experiencing?

When you say 95 %, is it a steady 95 or is it 100 and then drops to 95 and than back up?

If Vsync isn't disabled, disable it. Vsync is well known for causing frame stutter when your PC isn't quite able to push 60fps+ all the time, but gets kinda close. Usually, watching the fps bounce between 30 and 60 fps when right on the limit is a telltale symptom.
