Ive seen some motherboards like the msi x99a godlike carbon that suposedly have built in wifi, but i dont get what that means, does it mean that i dont need to connect to ethernet and it will run perfectly fine on its own?

It does mean that you can connect through a wireless connection rather than ethernet, but I wouldn't buy a board solely for that feature. You can add an inexpensive USB or PCIe adapter to any motherboard to get the same effect.
