I am planning to upgrade my computer and i have picked some parts. But are they compatible
with each other? Who knows?

If you have any other comments or suggestions for better components around the same price as current parts, i will take them into consideration gladly. Thank you.

Intel Core I5-6400
ASRock H170A-X1/3.1 Intel H170 LGA1151
Kingston HyperX FURY DDR4 16 Gt (2 x 8 Gt)

msi geforce gtx 970 - (i already own this so i wont be changing this)
SF-650P14HE 650 watt - (i already own this but if its not enough i will change it)

also do i have to reinstall windows if i keep the same hard drive that my current computer uses i have windows 7 installed on it.

I see nothing wrong with the compatibility.
However just to double check what speed is the HyperX Fury running at? If it's running higher than what the motherboard natively supports then you'll have to enable XMP profile in bios.
As for the power supply, I guess you won't be able to do some good overclocking.

Lastly, you should be able to run the operating system (at least I've seen it a couple times before) but I never tried, and don't be surprised if you encounter lots of weird bugs. I would suggest a clean install is the best option; just to get rid of some old registry settings and drivers and such.

Whatever speed the ram is it will run at 2133mhz since that's the only speed supported by the motherboard. If higher speed and wanting to run that do you need a "Z170" board.
The power supply is decent enough,no worries.

No budget for the i5 6500? It's already 0.5ghz faster and most of the times not that much more expensive.

About the os,like said it might work,in that case do you need to reactivate it again,in "system" you will find where it normally says "windows is activated" a link that says it needs to be activated again, click that and follow the instructions. Make sure to have back-ups anyway.

Can i overclock the i5-6500 better than the i5-6400 and if you know any Z170 motherboards around the same price could you recommend any, if not i will have to settle with the H170.

So, any non "k" processors are locked, which means you cannot overclock it to your liking, but I think you can still do the factory turbo.

As for the motherboards, I believe there are a lot of z170 boards that are around the price of h170 (since the only big difference is the ability to overclock). Even if you decided on an non k chip, a z170 board wouldn't hurt since you can still upgrade the cpu in the future.

Oh i feel so dumb now but thanks for making me smarter. I thought that the fact that you can turbo them also means that i can manually overclock them but ok. thanks alot!
