I'd like to set up outdoor Wifi for a private residence. Ideally would like the Wifi to service about a 100 foot radius more or less of the home. Security is a concern as we don't want anyone having access to our network. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you want a radius, then an outdoor access point with omnidirectional antennas is best. Mount a unit like this -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833168118 on the chimney or on a mast at the roofline. Use outdoor rated ethernet cable to connect it back to your main router. The Engenius unit comes with a power injector that allows the unit to be powered by the ethernet cable.

Yes. I would recommend this alternate version -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833168115 It is directional in its antenna optimization. Otherwise the same features. If you just want to go to one side of the house, you can set that unit in a window facing outside.
