Hi guys,
so I just built a brand new system with the below components:

  • Case: TT Core P5
    MB: Asus ROG Strix x99
    CPU: I7 6800k x 3.4 Ghz
    GPU: Asus STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GA
    PSU: Corsair HX1000i
    RAM:32 Gb G.SKILL TridentZ DDR4 3333
So when I boot the system, I get a D6 Q code that mean no VGA, then I tried to swap my old Radeon 5870 and it boots fine, also I happened to have on hand another brand new 1070 same model of mine and even this one gets me a D6 code. I updated the MB with the latest bios, I connect the card on DVI monitor and I see that the card is powered because there is a RED/WHITE LED light right underneath the PCI-E power connector, and it lights up WHITE.
I mean two cards out of two, there is something I might missing here. I'd exclude any ESD damage, I wear ESD shoes, ESD strap and assemble everything on ESD mat.
I can't try this card on my old system because I installed a waterblock, but as I mentioned before, I try another brand new 1070, this one with stock air cooled frame and fans, all lights are up, so it's not the cards either.
I can post some picture of the setup if needed.
Any thought?
Thanks

Hi,
yes I did, as I said, I even tried my old Radeon 5870, I'm using a PCI-E extension cable, but that is working fine, the Radeon boots. I tried even with another brand new Asus ROG Strix 1070 card, same D6 code.

Yes, I plugged the card straight to the motherboard, same D6 code (no VGA detected). I would exclude CPU, RAM, or the motherboard itself, everything's fine using my old Radeon. Both 1070 are brand new. I wonder if there is some BIOS setting I am missing for the PCI-E slot??

UPDATE: The card is working on my old system, I removed the waterblock, replaced the air cooling frame, install it on my old system and it works fine.
It seems like the combination MB-GPU is not compatible, of which I find it really odd been both Asus ROG Strix!!!
I sent an email to Asus support, let's see what happens.
