so ive bought my pc recently with new parts and i am recieving errors whilst playing games.

In the event viewer i get loads of these "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." it makes gaming not an option as this happens a couple seconds to minuites, The game will crash. This happens across multiple games.

GPU - Powercool rx 460 2gb

CPU - FX6300

motherboard - gigabyte GA-78lmt-usb3

500w corsair powersupply (Thought it was the psu before, bought this one from my friend and the errors continue.

2 x 4gb corsair ram

Cooler Master: Hyper 212 EVO

the error:

when a game is launched and the error occurs my monitors goes black (no signal) a couple of times and then the game will just crash, sometimes i get "directx has encountered an unrecoverable error" or "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Im using 16.9.2 drivers, i have tried using ddu and reinstalling. I have reformated windows just in case and also tried the tdr reg fix to no luck...

Im starting to think ether the drivers are badly configured for this card or it has a defect.

Solution
It seems like you've eliminated all software possibilities and have eliminated the PSU, so it's probably a bad card. Since the card is so new, there might not be another driver revision you can try, if there is something other than the 16.9.2 drivers that is compatible with the card, you probably should try that.

ohh! thanks for that i meant the 750ti

The GTX 750Ti will be a good deal slower than the RX 460 or GTX 950. I'd recommend getting an exchange from your retailer for another RX 460 if that is the best card you can afford.

oh okay, so say if i did get the same card, what would my next steps be if i was still having the same problems? wouldnt it mean its a driver issue?? even though i pretty much done everything i can already?

If you got another card and it showed the same problems, then yes it is most likely a driver problem. Apparently this issue has been cropping up for some other RX 460 owners and one possible solution is to roll back to an older driver that will work with the card (16.7.3 I think), but is very limited in features eg. no support for AMD's power management software and other extras and somewhat poorer performance as the driver technically predates the launch of the RX 460.
