Is there a specific reason you want the mini-ITX? Can you go with an ATX? If you want to build a gaming rig you may eventually find you are limited by your board if say you one day want to add a second gpu. Otherwise you're probably good to go.

It's fine. Though you could get a better value for little more or even around the same price. Suggestions: for $10 more, you could get ASRock H170 Pro4, which offers more features, ultimately a better value. You could also get ASRock H170M PRO4 for the same price at Amazon, or for $10 less at newegg. though judging from the feedback Amazon may be the safer bet for this particular board. There are also competitively priced boards from Gigabyte and MSI.

edit: The boards I suggested offer at least a single ultra (gen 3x4/ 32Gb/s) M.2 slot, among other features. Already there are some affordable M.2 ssds available, and prices are likely to become yet more affordable in the not so distant future. Some basic comparison info you may find useful in making your choice http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-h170-motherboard-price-list,4310.html#p1

A z170 would be pointless in this situation. It will not perform any better as motherboards have a negligible effect on gaming performance. The main reasons to go with a z170 over a b150 would be overclocking with a K cpu and SLI support neither is a concern here as the op is using a non k cpu and wants an itx board(only 1 pci-e port so no sli).

Seconded. OP, don't bother with z170 for your non-k chip and ITX format.
