It sounds like the SD card might have failed. You could give it a go with another computer as well, just to confirm that (and check if it's recognized in Disk Management and Device Manager as well), but if no device can recognize it, then I'm afraid that this is the most probable scenario.
USB flash drives and memory cards are not the most reliable storage devices for you to use for your important data, so for future reference, I'd recommend that you always have a backup for the most important files.
Your current options would be to try the memory card with Ubuntu Live USB, just to see if this OS can recognize it and if you can get to your files, or hope that a data recovery program could help you with that: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm.
