Hi, as I'm new to the forum, I decided to ask if my CPU is still in great condition.

I know that all CPUs are not the same but, as soon as I overclocked my FX-6300 to 4.7GHz;1.584V, which shouldn't be at that kind of voltage, it stated that 2 out of 6 workers have failed in Prime95.. So I decided to underclock from 4.7GHz to 4.5GHz without changing the voltage (1.584V) After around an hour, Prime95 never gave me any worker errors which meant that it is "kinda" stable at 4.5GHz. Also, with the same voltage, I never had any temperature problems or stability issues.

My question is, why is my FX-6300 @ 4.5GHz;1.584V not causing any problems? Because I don't think it is recommended to surpass 1.55V and while most FX-6300 users only have around 1.4-1.5V for their CPUs. Does my CPU have any power consumption problems or any other problems? I'm just curious about it since I don't want to have any problems with my CPU..

Solution
The clock speed is not the issue, its the voltage.
Bring that back down under AMDs recommended (or community recommended) levels and see whats stable from there.
You can pump above recommended voltage into a processor and not see any issues right now.
However, you are reducing the amount of time the processor can handle that voltage.

Some fellow users who OC a 965 (like myself) have been reducing their OCs due to degradation.

What do you mean reducing the amount of time? Do you mean the lifespan of the processor?

So I should underclock it in order to have the right performance without giving any problems to the CPU? I don't think I would recommend my CPU to be running at 4.7GHz anyways..

Well, I know overclocking the CPU degrades its lifespan slowly, but for now I might stay at 4.5GHz, but for the voltage at 1.584V, I am not sure what to do with it since decreasing the voltage wouldn't let my PC boot.. I will try to find the right voltage for the 4.5GHz setting.

Also, what voltage would you recommend for the FX-6300 @ 4.5GHz?

For now, I'm having a hard time for the voltage, but i'll try to change the voltage and check if it is safe and stable enough!

If that's the case, then maybe the voltage is fine for the CPU @ 4.7GHz.. I'm just worried what might happen if it kept using that kind of power :/

Maybe it won't have any problems as long as it is stable..
