I currently have a optiplex 755 desktop with 2.5gb of ram Intel core 2 quad processor AMD R7 250 2GB graphics card and went to add another gb of ram correct size same brand and it seemed to fit but I got a buzzing sound when I went to turn it on tried removing it and adding it again same issue

Fellow Optiplex 755 owner here. RAM can be a little tricky, I had to install it a few times to get it to work.
My first question is what RAM cards do you currently have?
I am a little thrown off by 2.5GB of RAM is it 3x 1GB sticks + a .5GB stick? I am not sure if it will run in that configuration. It may need to run in a 4x 1GB stick configuration, or a 4x 2GB configuration, or a 2x 2GB + 2x 1GB configuration.
