Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 OR Dark Rock 3

Hello,

I currently have a Dark Rock PRO 3 that I ordered from Amazon last week. I'm happy with the aesthetic, temps AND noise for the most part, however there is a slight squeal with the 120mm fan and a manufacturing defect with the top aluminium plate on the cooler (scratched, scuffed) so I'll be returning it soon.

I am considering just settling for the standard Dark Rock 3 however as I think it might be enough for my needs and should give me more flexibility with upgrades due to it being a bit easier to access RAM once the fan is taken off and allowing more room around the socket. However I also know that going to the standard Dark Rock 3 will also mean a bit more heat. But I really need to question, just how much? It's rated for 190w TDP and I'm currently using a i7 6700K at stock and have an overclocked profile for 4.5GHz at 1.325v (bad chip) and I don't really bother with the OC 99% of the time so I've yet to test it. But at stock the max temp I'm getting when bench marking is just under 70 degrees usually sitting around 65/66 degrees on the hottest core using real bench.

I can't easily get a hold of the Cryorig R5 (if any one was to suggest) and I prefer the look of the Dark Rock 3 and I'm going for a mix of performance and aesthetic and I'm not a fan of Noctua's look even if there coolers are the 'best'.

NOTE: I have a GTX 1070 FTW and I'm a fan of the backplate. The DRP3 takes up almost all of that which is one thing I miss from when I was using a H105 CLC.

So TLDR:

Will I notice much difference between the Dark Rock 3 over the Dark Rock Pro 3 with a stock 6700K playing mostly games?

I think that 190W is plenty of cooling capacity for an i7 6700K. You'll likely reach the limits of steady power delivery on the motherboard before you reach thermal limits with that cooler.
