What GPU would suit my CPU better?

I'm looking to upgrade my system in terms of power supply and graphics card. Currently I have an i5 3570 3.4ghz (I think that's 3rd gen), an nvidia GT 630, and my PSU is 400w.

At first I was eyeing the RX 460 since it seems to be compatible with my current PSU, but a friend said the RX series has compatability issues at the moment, plus my somewhat dated CPU would constrict just how much things improve.

They advised aiming lower, for something closer to my CPU's release date, so I've looked into a ASUS GTX 750ti, listed at 109$ before rebate. I'd get a 500w PSU to supplement this too.

At the same time, I just found a GTX 950 for about 120$, but the release gap between that card and my CPU is larger.

I'm worried about turning my CPU into the bottleneck here, and I'm not interested in upgrading my CPU because I want to keep things cheap-- Not trying to go cutting edge, I just want what I already have to look decent and smooth in 1080p (Overwatch, Borderlands Pre Sequel, etc)

What's the optimal GPU to go with here? Suggestions beyond the candidates listed here are welcome too.

Solution
Your i5 is plenty strong enough for a GTX1070. The 460, 950, and 750ti are all weak comparatively.

Get the strongest video card you can afford. The RX480 or GTX1060 would be great.

Huh! Color me surprised, I figured a 4 year old cpu would result in some limitations.

I can spend 140 on the GPU at the most, so I'll go for the 950 for certain. Thanks for filling me in!

^most definitely. With regards to CPU's on intels side there have been approx 5% increases every 18-24 months, so you've lost out on 2-3 of those, but that's it, AMD has done little. I would suggest another 24months in that CPU (depending on usage, so it could be more) before you start to struggle on the latest games.

So please don't buy into the story that your CPU is weak.
