Should I Get An Extended Mousepad Or no?

depends on your preferences honestly.
i use an 11x17 sized pad myself. i like it because i can change the position my hand/arm rests in depending on what i'm doing but its not needed. after using a large pad i will say that going back to normal sized pads makes them all feel small.

a 40x45 would like, cover your whole desk. That's for if you have some splintery wooden table or something and need to protect your wrists from the table material, or if it's glass and too slippery/cold.

honestly its all preference. quite honestly most people can make do with a normal sized mousepad.
a larger pad may be nice IF:
- you have your mouse set to low sensitivity and need large amounts of space for things like precision mouse work, art or drawing
- you like stretching out and often change arm positions so a bigger mat means you do not need to shift the pad around when you do this and can just move the mouse (this is why i use a big pad)
- you like the look of a big mat better
- you want a full keyboard and mouse pad either because you like the look or want a softer/washable surface under them both (compare to a desk pad)
my main go to pads are an 11x17 which gets used for the desktop and a normal sized but thick pad which travels with my laptop as i use a mini mouse. both work but given how i relax and change arm positions on my desktop (i have a 7 foot wide desk and like to stretch out) the big pad suits me more at home.
tldr: totally opinion and preference.

I went from a QCK Heavy (extra thicc mmmm) mousepad to the extended MM300. I now have all the mouse mat space in the world to play fps games with comfortably low sensitivity and can freely swipe as far as I want without worrying about falling off the edge.
Extended mousemats typically serve two purposes: aesthetics and serious mouse swiping. If you're not too concerned with aesthetics, don't have a huge amount of desk space, and don't swipe your mouse like a madman just to turn a 180, I wouldn't bother with one. I would personally weigh speed vs control and material comfort over size, especially when mouse mats only seem to be getting bigger and bigger these days.
