My motherboard supports memory in dual channel. Currently running with a 2x4 set of 8 gigabytes. 2 sticks. Will another identical set work ? So two 2x4 sets. I have 4 ram slots. 16 gigabytes total.

Solution
There are no guarantees, trying to mix DRAM, even the same exact model is a crapshoot - the forums are full of people trying this with no joy. Also full of people that have bought two identical sets of the same exact model rather than a single 4 stick set set just to save a few dollars and again no joy. Sticks are tested together to ensure they will play nice before packaging, that's why a 4 stick package often costs more than a pair of two stick packages, it takes more testing to find 4 that will play nice than it does two.
