Ethernet cable is limited to 100 meters. You could put a switch in at half way if you have power. I assume there is a practical limit to how many times you could extend ethernet with switches but it is a lot.
Your only other real option is to use fiber and media converters or small switches with optical ports.

^^ Seconded. Maximum run length for CAT5 cable is 90-100m in length. If you go any further you'll need to put a repeater in there (such as a switch (not just a passive hub, it MUST be a switch)). This will rebroadcast the data in and allow you to go another 90-100m.
Or use a POE extender, its passive and draws power from one end and repeats the data signal, that way you're not looking for power half way down the cable.
