My 8.1 Acer 64 bit Laptop + Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 wants a Paint Shop Pro 9 Twain driver to give access to my fully functional Epson Perfection 1240U PHOTO colour scanner. An internet search reveals many solutions but they do not work on this laptop. Can anyone provide a solution that will work? Kind regards.

Many thanks to BryanILee for the answer. Basically uninstall your 1240 drivers and software. Then, oddly enough, install the drivers for Epson Perfection 2400 (not 1240). However installation must be undertaken using BryanILee's prescribed process, How he worked out this process is beyond me. But it works,

This solution is for Windows 8. The Windows 8.1 installation of the driver is very similar.

Thank you for hyperlink to Epsom Event Manager Utility v3.10.61. However this does not include twain driver for Epson Perfection 1240U PHOTO colour scanner (e.g. EPSON TWAIN 5.7h). So I continue to seek remedy.

The Epson Perfection 1240U PHOTO colour scanner is very expensive. I do not want to purchase a different scanner with identical attributes just because Microsoft OS has changed. So who knows how to install the twain driver?

This solution is also good for Windows 10. Annoyingly, the Windows 10 version updating also requires the driver to be reinstated. However very pleased that the Epson Perfection 1240U PHOTO colour scanner continues to be used.
