MSI Z170A SLI vs MSI Z170A SLI PLUS? Any Differences?

Hi,

So I just wanted to confirm I am not being an idiot. I'm looking at these two boards:

MSI Z170A SLI

MSI Z170A SLI PLUS

For the life of me I can't find any significant/meaningful differences between these two motherboards, am I wrong?

1. Reinforced PCIe slots.

Yup, that's about it.
It's a good choice if you're getting a 1080 or a heavy graphics card, as GPU sag used to be quite a big thing in the earlier days with heavy graphics cards. xD

The most obvious difference is that the Z170A SLI doesn't have any video ports (i.e. VGA, HDMI and DVI). The Z170A SLI PLUS has the three video ports.

Yeah ko888 I saw that, but why you would buy a gaming motherboard to run on-board video? Made that fact seem insignificant. All the same that is a difference, thanks for mentioning it.

Oh wow, actually didn't notice that....

Very strange for a motherboard, get the Plus version OP, you'll want those extra video outputs if your graphics card dies.

If your discrete graphics card ever failed you would appreciate the presence of those video ports since it would allow you to use the Intel integrated graphics on the CPU for troubleshooting (i.e. assuming your CPU has an IGP).

Yep, as mentioned above.
There is no such thing as a 'gaming' motherboard @Wildfire96, it's just a marketing thing.
