Startup taking too long on windows 8 laptop

My laptop takes up to 2 hours to get to windows 8 login. It stays on a black screen after windows loading screen. After that a purple screen, and it stays on the purple screen for 40mins to 2hours, and occasionally flickers and my cursor has a loading wheel from time to time.
Please help.

Not sure.. I'll just get a new hard drive...and it started working and didn't show a password box..... Couldn't login. And it takes even longer to boot up.. took overnight... So about 7 hours....
I'm about to be done with it....
