so i always was told you cant overclock a intel non k processor, but in my MSI bios for the MSI h110m gaming MB i can oc my i5-6600, i downloaded CPU-Z and stressed it and sure enough the OC is successful, i did a small OC to 3.7 and the test it did run at 3.7, my question, is this a bug? is it safe? and also i have stock cooler for now. heres my build below

MSI H110M gaming
Gigabyte gtx 1070
I5-6600
EVGA supernova G2 550w
16gb DDR4 2400mhz kingston hyper fury
1GB HDD / No SSD yet :(

What he is saying (In a post I agree is barely understandable) is to truly overclock you need a Z170 motherboard. Many can be configured to overclock a non K processor. What you are doing now isn't really overclocking you are just locking it within its normal operating boost range.

As mentioned above, the normal turbo frequency for that CPU is 3.6-3.9 GHz, depending on number of cores in use, so that's not really an overclock. I don't think you'll be able to overclock it past the max turbo frequency (3.9 GHz) with that mobo, except maybe a small BCLK increase (<5%).

first off get a ssd.
easiest thing u can do with no risk. 100% positive outcome.
if u dont find urself doing what u do fast enough then think about overclocking.
u can talk to me about it if u like, my 6400 is at 4.6ghz steady also tried a few clicks higher but didnt want to boost that much cuz i touched more things than i wanted to.
know what u want
know what u need for it to work
and know ur risk

*oh btw gonna burst ur bubble now, ur motherboard isnt compatible u need a dragon ball 'Z' board

Watch the insults pal.

We are all here to help, if your motivation is internet kudos you're oing it for thr wrong reasons. I suggest if you would like to help you try using correct grammar, capitalization, and sentence structure, and don't come up with your own slang like "dragon ball z" motherboard, which is just going to confuse people.
