Upgrading AMD Motherboard?

I have a Presario CQ5320f with an AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor operating on Windows 7 64-bit that I recently upgraded the graphics card & power supply to for gaming. Everything went fine but now after doing some more checking I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade from one AMD motherboard to another, more up to date AMD one?

I'm not super computer savy but I'm learning so I'm curious can it be done and if so, would it be a lot of hassle? I'm not looking for a really recent one just something that would be the next step I suppose if possible if you wanted better than what you have. Any help or recs would be greatly appreciated.

You could swap out your motherboard for another, but that by itself wouldn't have much effect on your system. Your motherboard supports up to Phenom II X4 9XX series CPU if you wanted to upgrade that for a little more performance. Considering that a motherboard swap would likely require a new copy of Windows, I would just upgrade the CPU and use the system until it no longer does what you want it to and then investing in a new system.

Thanks for the advice. I've had this computer for a while and it's still doing well so I figured I'd just add on but maybe just getting a new one with better specs would be better. And cheaper in the long run.
