Dual CPU Dimm balancing guidelines

Hi,
I have a dual LGA1366 motherboard with 6 dimm slots per CPU (12 in total). LGA1366 is triple channel.
What would be the best way to populate DIMM slots if I have 8x4GB sticks (32GB total).

I ve read various conflicting info on the net, some say that each CPU can access any DIMM slot and that the order doesn't matter but that seems strange to me. Also I don't think it s possible with my config but is there any way to have triple channel?

I was thinking of putting 4 sticks in dual channel mode per CPU. Not sure if it s the best option.

ps: I don't need mirroring/redundancy or any fancy stuff like that.

1| It's best if you included your full system's specs in your post. Namely speaking, I'm asking for the motherboard since they will have a manual wherein the guidelines are stated.

2| The LGA1366/X58 platform relied on the (then advanced) triple channel memory configuration so it's best if you sourced triple channel memory for your system. You could get by with buying a 3x Quad channel kits and populate them in your board to see all ram slots filled and also not breaking the 12 slots regiment.

3| If you're buying 8 individual 4GB sticks of ram, what's preventing you from buying 12 individual sticks of ram? Mind you they will have to be identical(manufacturer, latency and frequency as well as voltage which ideally should be 1.65v).
