Hello.

First off, specs:

OS: Win 7 64-bit
MOBO: ASUS P5G41T-M LX2/GB/LPT (LGA775)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300
OLD RAM (working): 4GB (2x2GB) Kingston DDR3 running at 1066Mhz
NEW RAM (not booting): 8GB (2x4GB) Kingston HyperX Fury (HX313C9FB/4) DDR3

So after installing the new HyperX Fury sticks (the 2 sticks), the fans start spinning and... thats it. Nothing on screen. If I put the old ram back in (the 2 sticks) the PC boots up like normal. I tried reseting the BIOS and removing and installing the CMOS battery a few times. However the result is still the same.

Is the ram simply not comparable? The motherboard supports up to 1333mhz(OC). I understand the HyperX Fury is 1333mhz. Or am I getting the speeds wrong?

My BIOS is version 0404 from 05/05/10. The latest version is 1101 from 2012/06/27. Is there a chance the ram will work if I update?

Thanks

You've got an older 775 mobo, which isn't compatible with the Hyper X Fury on a few counts - the Fury are made with high density memory ICs as are basically all DDR3 (post 2010), the Fury also aren't compatible in that they operate off PnP starts with the 2011 Sandy bridge 1155 socket mobos. There are few older lines of DRAM still available might look for the GSkill NT series of value DRAM which was made with the older low density memory ICs
The 0406 bios does claim to improve memory compatibility.
"*For this motherboard to support DDR3 1333MHz RAM, use a CPU with 1333MHz or higher Front Side Bus (FSB) speed. Refer to your CPU specifications for the FSB value." But the spec for the CPU says it supports an FSB up to 1333.

So my answer is - maybe.

Can you try it with one stick at a time of that memory?

After doing some research that was my guess too. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
