i have connected my Ethernet cable to my computer and its not giving any internet connection. while when i tried the same cable to my laptop it was working.
one thing i am sure that the problem is within my computer settings (my OS is Windows 10). so i am just stuck at how to do that. if any one of you could help, would be great!

I have the same problem but I have Windows 7, I tried looking for hardware under my control panel and I see only Device Manager under System and Devices and Printers. I see the green and orange lights under the connector but I don't know what do to. I'm not very tech savvy. I checked my drivers and it says I only have one drive installed, I never used a WiFi adapter and I checked, it also says that the best driver software for my device is already installed. What I recently did is go into my bios and checked on my drivers so that all my drivers are updated and installed. But still no internet.

Did you try connecting with other machines and see whether its working..in case if its working i feel its the same case as mine. Try keeping it disconnected for awhile and see whether its working.

Yeah I did, I also installed a wired network adapter with all its drivers, so I know it's not the internet and it is my computer.

first I would suggest to not highjack someone elses issue, as yours gets lost in the shift, secondly under windows 7
to the right you have a toolbar with time and date (bottom right) you should have an icon for your network, right click on it and got to network and sharing or alternatively you can go to start button, control panel, network and sharing, from that screen "change adapter setting" and new box with your network adaptor is showing
right click on it properties, then see the text saying " Internet protocol version 4 (tcp/ipv4), make sure the box before it is checked, then double click on the text itself. then two things should be set in here. 1. obtain an IP address automatically should be chosen 2. use the following DNS server address and enter 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
click ok after that on the Ethernet properties screen again click ok now we should be back at your network device, right click on it and select disable, then wait until your screen refreshes and marks it as disabled, when it is, right click on it again and enable the device. when it is done you should see a "network" name instead of disabled. close all previously opened internet browsers you had (IE., chrome what ever close them all)
now open 1 window, and see if you can get out.

So I did all those things you said, and it still did not work at all. Is there anything else I could try? Do you think if I reinstall windows, it would work again?
