anyone out there have trouble with any AX series PSUs from corsair? i just RMAed mine and got the replacement back and my problem started up again today...

system specs:
i7-4770k@ 4.3ghz
gigabyte z87x-d3h
kingston ddr3 1600mhz
kingston hyperx 3k ssd
EVGA gtx 970
and of course an AX860i PSU

switched out the PSU during the RMA process with an antec bp 550w i have as a backup and had no problems at all for a whole week. i get the replacement PSU back and now a week later its giving me random restarts. before i replaced it, i would get random restarts and a boot loop where the PSU would click on, off, on off. the way to fix it would be to.....remove all the modular cables from the PSU and then plug them all back in. strange fix, i know.

anyone else experience anything like this with their PSU?

oh, and one other note: the PSU passes self test just fine with a green light

ive had that once with some burnt "Plugs" from the psu. Basically two pins on my Motherboard connector from PSU fried. and I had random restarts with boot loops, it was shit. If the same thing has happened to you, It is possible one of the recepticles where your plugs from PSU have been damaged as well, they the plugs, make sure your motherboard 8pin connector is well installed.

Don't forget. Just because you have a NEW component, it does not mean that it is not faulty.

thats definitely true but i find it extremely hard to believe that 2 PSUs in a row are both faulty. they're both displaying the same exact behavior too which leads me to believe maybe its just some other part of my system :(

silly question. Your temperatures.. GPU and CPU? are they okay? have you tried a Crash report app? to see if any componenets are linked to your restarts?

yes i actually just repasted them a few days ago. always have temp monitor up when using the computer. CPU maxes about 60-65C and GPU gets to about 72C while gaming. i'm fairly certain it's not temp-related. it gave me the same behavior at stock and overclocked to 4.3ghz on the CPU.

well then start looking at other things i would say. which windows version are you using? is it possible you've got some "update/restart" issue? also try just to remove some components to see if you get different results, like GPU (you have onboard video) or ram sticks. Have you played with your bios settings? you should try and update your bios if you havent yet.

It's really more of a vague thing right now, no choice but to start taking the system piece by piece to try and see if you get any results.

Look at your OS first though, hopefully it would be OS related or bios rather than the actual components

thanks for the suggestions. didn't happen at all yesterday so maybe it was a fluke the day before. i do have windows 10 but its definitely not a update/restart problem because i have it set to manual restart for updates, plus the power supply just clicks off when the restart happens. if you happen to be familiar with AX units you'll know the sound i'm talking about. i was thinking last night that it could be a super-cheapo fan hub that im running about 3 fans from. its molex powered and cost about...like 3 bucks at frozencpu.com. if the problem starts up again im attacking that thing first.
