Hi, recently my computer didn't boot, so I've resetted everything hoping that the problem was just windows, but it wasn't. every time I tried to start the pc after a few minutes (1-2 minutes) it blocks completely. But if I remove the graphics card (EVGA gtx 750ti FTW) the pc is just fine.
So I thought that the problem was my GPU was broken, but if I but the same GPU in my fathers pc it works just fine.
Can it be that my motherboard is about to die? I have read of people with the same issue and shortly after their motherboard died.

CPU: AMD fm-2 A8-5600k
GPU: EVGA gtx 750ti FTW
Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A55M-HD2
Power supply: Corsair VS550

Sorry if there are spelling errors, I'm Italian.

Solution
Alright since you tested the GPU in another motherboard and it works we can be sure that the issue is not the GPU. It will be a good time to upgrade the motherboard and cpu if you have the money to do so. I recommend Asus motherboards. I'll be here to help if you need anything. I can help you choose if you want also.
Did you do anything at all with hardware/drivers before the problem happened? If you did it could just need a BIOS reset or driver reinstall. If not, perhaps the board's slot has failed. Have you got another pcie slot on your board you can try to see if it still happens?

My motherboard has just 1 pcie slot, all the latest drivers were installed and I didn't touch anything before it stopped working. I can try to reinstall the bios and the drivers.

Hi there,

Try to reset the BIOS to the optimized values, if that doesn't help try booting the pc without the GPU and update your BIOS to the latest version.

Let us know the results.

The BIOS is up to date and the BIOS is on the optimized values, now I'm installing the latest GPU drivers and than I'm going to put back in the GPU. I will tell if something happens

I can't install the drivers without the GPU in the pc... I tried to put back in the GPU but still the screen locks after a minute. I've tried the same GPU in another pc and it worked fine with and without the latest drivers... is it possible that the motherboard just broke?

It is indeed a strange issue, but try this, boot the PC without the GPU and uninstall the drivers, and everything related to the GPU. Then try to boot with the GPU. If it boots fine reinstall latest drivers and that should do it. If it doesn't boot without the drivers then we might have a problem with the motherboard itself.

Not really, the only way to test the PCI slot would be with another GPU. But according to what you are explaining, it seems that the motherboard is the problem. Try taking it to a local shop to see if they can give you a deep diagnosis on the subject. If none of these things work I can help you find another one just like that. Do you live in Italy?

Yes, I live in north italy. I was already planning to buy a new cpu and a new motherboard so this situation is anticipates everything. I knew that the problem probably was the motherboard I wanted to be sure that I did what I could, because the GPU si 9 months old and if the problem was the GPU I could
take advantage of the guarantee.

I personally had really bad experiences with MSI motherboards. Regarding the CPU if you are going to buy a 6600k you will need to look into the Z170 motherboards instead of B150 or H110 since the Z170 is the one for overclocking purposes. That's what the "k" means, that the cpu is unlocked and you can overclock it. If you are not planning on overclocking don't waste the extra euros.

Tell me if you're planning on overlocking or not and I'll give you some suggestions. Also tell me how much are you willing to spend, 300 euros?

Actually I am not planning to overclock it so I should go for the 6500. Yes my budget is around 300 euros for CPU + Motherboard , because I want to upgrade to ddr4 ram so I need another 40 euros for that.

At the level your computer will be used you will not notice any difference. So keep your same ddr3 ram unless you have less than 8GB you might consider getting some more. Go with H110 or B150 if you don't plan on overclocking. This seems like a nice choice for you:

with the: https://www.amazon.it/Intel-Processore-i5-6500-Turbo-Socket/dp/B010T6CWI2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475762677&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+core+i5+6500k

This is even less than 300, you can probably use the rest to get an extra RAM =D
