new SSD not showing up in "this pc"

hey guys i just got myself a new ssd as a secondary drive to put games on. But i cant find the ssd. i checked device manager and it says its plugged in and working. But i cant find it in "This pc" btw im on windows 10

Have you allocated space in Disk Management? It may not be partitioned. Try creating one and assigning a drive letter first.

update: I'm in disk manager and it says unallocated

You need to partition it and then format it in disk manager (right click on it you will see your options). At the end it will assign it a drive letter.

SSDs and hard drives are not plug and play like a thumb drive, they require configuration.

Look here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3199270/windows-recognize-hdd.html Right click the unallocated drive in Disk Management to start process. And you can name it and give it any available drive letter you like. I just put New Volume and Drive G for an examle
