Hi my GPU has an 8 pin input connector, while the only cables which came with my PSU, have a dual 6+2 pin output for PCI-E.
Hence my question is:
Can I plug one of the 6+2 pin into gpu and just leave the other part (6+2 pin) dangling?

GPU: GTX 1080 Gigabyte G1
PSU: Seasonic 850X

Thanks

Yep.
The single 6-pin provides about 75Watts, and adding the other two pins just turns it into an 8-pin that provides about 150Watts.

It doesn't matter if the power supply has unused outputs, only that the graphics card or other devices that have additional power inputs have those requirements met.
