Hello,
I just bought a new pc with these specs:
Corsair vengeance LPX DDR4 2666mhz 16gb (ram)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (graphix)
Seagate barracuda 2TB (sata 6.0gb/s, 7200 RPM, 65mb cache) (HDD)
Corsair CX750M, 750W PSU (power)
Intel core i7-6700k skylake. (4.0ghz) (cpu)
MSI LGA1151 Z170A SLI Plus (motherboard)

The pc runs very slow, I have to type this on my phone as the pc takes a long time to boot, open programs and switch between programs. I dont have a cooler on my cpu, could that be the problem?

Please help, just used all my savings on this

Solution

That is 100% why it was slow, the CPU was heat throttling and barely running

The Corsair is better quality.

I have shut down the computer, is there anyway to see if I have broken the CPU or motherboard?
I read on toms hardware earlier that I didn't need a cooler, as I forgot to order it when I ordered the pc. So I thought it was all good. I have now located a shop that opens at 10 so I can go buy it.

Intel processors come with a cooler normally, however the K processors do not because they are meant to be overclocked and hence need a better aftermarket cooler. I'm not sure where you read that but its likely you misinterpreted what you read.

At this point being that it was still functional you are probably ok, but I have seen people burn up a processor running it without a cooler. So lets hope for the best here.
