CPU: Intel 6th Generation Core i5-6500 LGA1151

RAM: Corsair Vengeance® LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16 Memory Kit - Black

PSU: Raidmax 500W ATX Power Supply

MotherBoard: Gigabyte Z170MX-Gaming 5 LGA1151 Motherboard

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 Graphics Card

Solution
Compatible yes. Good together, not really.

If you're running a locked CPU like the 6500, you don't need a Z series board. Also just no to the Raidmax PSU. Terrible quality

Actually all the parts but the PSU are good combos.

Absolutely no point in pairing a locked chip with an unlocked chipset. They'll work together, but unless you plan to upgrade the CPU with a K series CPU, I don't know why you wouldn't go with a good B150 or H170 motherboard

That was my point. If he wants to upgrade too a i5-7600k or something in the future he can. A B150 chipset is still a good choice, here is a board that is $50 off and is great: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132693&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Do you have any good motherboard choices for this build?

The one that ryguybuddy suggested would be a good option. If you want to save some more money, I've used the MSI B150 Mortar in a few builds and have had 0 issues

Why can't I pair a locked chip with an unlocked chipset? I'll just upgrade my cpu later to an i7 6700k. Then I won't have to buy another motherboard.

That's pretty much what I said. There's a good chunk of people who don't plan on upgrading ever, and pair a locked CPU with a K series CPU. Since you are planning on upgrading it realistically would be fine

So you're telling me it is ok to keep that motherboard if I am planning on upgrading my CPU later on, am I right?

Exactly. If you wanted to not upgrade anything there's not point to a Z board. If you're going to change the CPU it's fine
