I put in a new motherboard and cpu, the HDD stayed the same with my old windows 7 on it. Trying to start windows would lead to a bluescreen so i decided to reinstall it. BTW this same harddrive works with another computer, everything turns on. So the problem with reinstalling is that i keep getting an error that says that "The file or directory D:\Documents and Settings is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility. How do i do that? I ran the Cmd and in it ran Chkdsk D: and later Chkdsk f/ D: but all i got was a message saying "Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50"

Solution
Can you boot the computer from an installer DVD or USB with the drive attached?

If so, then select Windows 7 custom install and as a first step delete all existing partitions and select the single remaining unpartitioned space as the location for installation.

I fixed it by running the check disk utility a few times, thanks anyways.
