About a month ago I started getting interested in PC gaming, but my 6 year old budget laptop just isn't doing it for me. A friend of mine just sent me a list of parts for me to build my own desktop, and after looking into it and making a couple changes, I wanted to confirm it with people I'm sure know what they're doing, so can anyone tell me if this will work and if everything will fit together properly?

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 78.1 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit)
Monitor: Acer G257HU smidpx 60Hz 25.0" Monitor

Also money isn't a huge issue, I know this is a decently expensive build, I just need to know if it will work. Thanks.

good news it will work, bad news outdated parts.
the newest parts are the same price so why aren't u getting that?

three more questions for you

1 where are you from
2 do you want to do overclocking streaming video editing ?
3 do you want to sli in the future? ( 2 graphics cards in 1 rig)

sli will NOT benefit in every game so its a waste of money imo.
4 , also you got such a beast pc soon, why are you getting that monitor?

I think this is one of my friends old builds, and he just sent me the parts for it, and since i'm still new to this I didn't really know what to change (all I did to change it was switch from a GTX 970 to a 1070) and the monitor was part of it. Do you have any suggestions for part changes and maybe a different monitor?

if i had this setup and monitor i would probably never see daylight again.

Solution
I can do better than that @superninja! :)
The XB271HU is a better monitor than the PG279Q by the way, clearer panel with less backlight bleed and slightly more vibrant colors.
Also the PSU, case, HDD, and cooler are poor choices.
Give me a budget @OP and i'll put something together for you.
Do you need OS/peripherals included?

Budget is somewhere in the $2000 range but I can go a little over if I have to. I already know I'm getting Windows 10 home so that's all good, I have a slight idea of my peripheral choices but if you have any suggestions feel free to throw them in and i'll take a look :)

Here you go, i've gone for a red and black build to play it safe. ;)
I'll make a separate peripherals list.
