I had no problems with my onboard sound but then my powersupply had problems and I had it replaced. After the power supply was replaced everything on the system worked perfectly except for the sound.

When I plug in a speaker or head phone into the jacks, the software automatically detects that I plugged in a head phone or speaker but when I try playing something no sound is produced.

The software seems to work just the way it used to the only problem is no sound comes out.

Finally, I tried using an external sound card and that works perfectly on the system but I would prefer the onboard sound because it has 7 channels. I will appreciate any help I can get with resolving this issue.

Thanks

When I open the Audio Manager the place it says "Set Default Device" is greyed out and I cant click on it even though its supposed to be a drop down menu.

Also when I open where I am supposed to set playback device, I see

  • speakers first which is enabled,

  • Realtek digital output which is disabled but can be enabled

  • Realtek digital output (optical)which is also disabled but can be enabled

There is also a set default dropdown here also but again it too is greyed out and can't be clicked on

Please I really appreciate your help. Let me know how I might go about setting it as default again.

Regards
