Have a failed hard drive (would boot up and run for 30 minutes).
Tried to clone it using EZ GIG IV cloning software. It ran for 4 days before I gave up (read errors were equal to the writable part of the HD).
The drive has three partitions: OS, System and HP Recovery.
Have run a disk check on each partition and System and Recovery run, but OS gets stuck and won't continue.
Is there anyway that I can copy/clone/?? just the System and Recovery partitions on to another hard drive and restore it with a startup disk??

Solution
You can try to use something like Macrium reflect and just clone over those two partitions, and then i think HP had a boot key to access the Recovery partition on startup. I'm not sure what it is, but not sure if it will work as well. If anything you can get the version of windows it came with install disk, and then just use the Product key on the PC and it should activate.

Otherwise you can use a program like R-Studio (70 bucks) and it can clone a hard drive with bad sectors, but again we are not sure how bad the drive is so if it is really bad every a good clone may not boot because window files could be in those bad sectors which it just skips
