I'm not sure what the problem is. Over the past year or two, I've heard the USB Disconnect sound randomly when I bump my PC, or my desk, but haven't paid too much attention to it. At this point, if I bump my desk or PC even slightly, I will occasionally hear the disconnect sound like before, but sometimes the PC will just shut off, with no warning. The issue used to be very mild, so I never thought much of it, but as of now, I'm afraid that it will get more severe, and I want to treat it before something bad happens.

I'm very worried about this, as I've adjusted all of the plugs in the computer to see if they were loose, but I'll be open to any suggestions.

I've read other threads with similar issues to mine, but those threads mention a USB Connect sound, and I don't seem to hear that.

Solution

From the board. I presume this happens with or with or a device in the USB port.

Try disconnecting the front panel USB cable(s). Start with the USB2.0 cable first. See if the issue goes away. Then (leaving it disconnected) move to the USB3.0 cable. Use the machine like that as long as you can to verify if the issue is gone or still present.

Welp, I sort of fixed it I think... I downloaded USBDevicew and checked what was disconnecting, turned out to be a Generic USB sm reader, and I disconnected that and haven't heard anything since. It was convenient because I didn't really every use it anyways.
