Hello everyone!

I really need your help to figure this out. I recently purchased a Asus Strix GTX 1070 as my R9 290 just died a few weeks ago. At the beginning everything was just fine, but when I started to play my games (most of the times is just WoW), I realized that the FPS was not as smooth as I though it would be. So after doing some research I came to the conclusion that my CPU is causing problems (bottleneck), what do you guys think?

Please keep in mind that I can run my games on ULTRA settings, but I haven't seen that big of a difference between my 1070 and my old r9 290 (this suppose to be a BIIIG upgrade).

My Specs:

GTX Strix 1070
i5 4430
Hyperx 8 GBS ram 1600
SSD 128GB
HD 1TB
monitor display 2560x1080
PSU thermaltake 650W

Games:
WoW
Tomb Raider
Metro 2033
More WoW

*Sorry for my English, is not my main language.

Not terribly surprising. Your R9 290 was already pushing your i5 to its absolute limits when playing at ultra at that resolution. Shoving an even more powerful graphics card at your computer is making the problem worse. Your CPU is incapable of keeping up with your GTX 1070 to keep it pumping frames. This is what the community likes to call a CPU bottleneck.

It's a big upgrade in cost, but your CPU just isn't fast/powerful enough to keep up, especially when you're shooting for ultra settings at 1080p ultrawide.
