Approximate Purchase Date: Next two to three months, sooner if I can get the go ahead from the better half (she buys shoes so why can't I buy computer stuff?)

Budget Range: Looking at around the $1000 mark (AUD) but happy to move up or down depending on the advice given.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: I'll be using it generally as a gaming pc but needs to be good enough that when I work from home I can access large CAD files and not have it crash.

Parts Not Required: Don't need a mouse but everything else is needed. Won't be putting a optical drive in at this stage unless someone can prove otherwise that I actually need it.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I haven't got a preference but sites such as:
newegg.com
cplonline.com.au
mwave.com.au

Country: Australia, the land down under.

Parts Preferences: I don't really buy into brand preference as I'm pretty much a newbie at this, I just want something that will do everything I want and not make me cry.

Overclocking: Maybe?

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe one day in the future?

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I'm hoping to get this done sooner rather than later due to my laptop struggling turn on, let alone allow me to use it. If I can do it for cheaper that would be great as wedding costs and honeymoon are starting to sky rocket.

This kind of blows your budget up, but it would be a better all around machine for what you want to do.

Thanks BadActor, just a quick question on the CPU. Why i5 over an i7? Sorry if that is a stupid question and please yell at me if I should know better.

Feel free to recommend an i7 as I know how painful it is running CAD slowly.
