Hi all,
I currently have a GTX 750ti and I am considering upgrading it. I'm not on a tight budget but I don't want to spend more than I need. In all, my max budget is AUD$300 and would prefer to buy from a store in Australia (online or brick). I don't care too much about maxing out games (high is fine) but I would hope for a nearly solid 70-75FPS on modern games. I am considering two choices here. I am tempted to go for a RX470 4GB which I can purchase for AUD$280. I would prefer not to go for a 1060 since it is AUD$80 more and I don't think it would be worth it.

My second choice is to buy second hand. I've used second hand parts before so I am very open to this option. I have found that I can get a GTX770 2GB for AUD$150 or a HD7950 3GB for the same price.

What do you think I should choose? Feel free to suggest other cards.

GPU: GTX 750ti

Where are you finding the 470 for $280 in Australia? The cheapest I could find was $289 + shipping for what looks like a reference cooled unit. Aftermarket models seem to start at $320. If you can find one at that price, it's definitely a good buy. I'm guessing it's got a basic blower cooler? That's okay, but just bear in mind that if you plan to OC at any time, it's likely you'll need to accept some pretty obnoxious fan noise.

The 1060 3GB is the better card at the moment. Prices seem to start at $325: http://cplonline.com.au/evga-geforce-gtx1060-3g-gaming-03g-p4-6160-kr.html
If you're paying a similar price for a 470, the 1060 3GB looks like good value. But if you can find a 470 unit that you're happy with for the $280 mark, that's...

In terms of your second hand options, the 770 was once superior to the 7950, but that 2GB VRAM has me worried, even with your lowish res 1050P monitor. The 7950 is still an okay card (that's what keeping me gaming at the moment), but it's a lot slower than the 470.
For reference here's benchmarks of a 7970 (slightly faster than 7950) vs RX 480 (slightly faster then 470): http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1722?vs=1749
Using that site you can compare a 280 (slightly OC'd 7950) with a 770.

If you've got the budget the new card does make sense. Similar value for money (i.e. more performance, but higher cost), but you get a much lower power draw, better future driver and game support, etc.
