Hello,

I want to build an entirely new PC. I have been surfing on the web to see how well the Fx-8350 will work with a rx 470 but there is not much information.

Also whats the best motherboard for this setup for the lowest price? (ATX if possible)

I was thinking of getting a gtx 950 or a gtx 960 but I really am in love with the rx 470. The performance for the price is amazing.

I live in New Zealand so its harder to get these products. The rx 470 is only 20$ more expensive then the gtx 960 that is why it is a big deal for me as it is a good deal.

Final question: Will the rx 470 work fine with the fx-8350 and what is the best motherboard for the combo?

Solution

It has a turbo boost to 3.3 ghz, keep in mind that core vs core the i5 is much better, and for gaming the i5 will be better.
For 3D render maybe the fx8350 might be better, but don't pint me on it since I never did any rendering myself, but I expect the i5 do good in that aswell since it's still a quad core with 4 strong and fast cores. Keep in mind that the i5...

Yes I am going for a cheap build. But if the i5 6400 + motherboard are a similar price compared with a fx-8350 + motherboard then I am opened.

I would say to pay only around +30$ to what I would have to pay if I was going with fx-8350 + motherboard

I had a look at the i5-6400 and I see It has 2.7 GHz while the fx-8350 has 4.0 GHz.
Not only I game but I also 3D render in Maya and use a lot of Adobe Photoshop, how would that effect my work experience if I was going to compare those?

Keep in mind that the i5 has a much better upgrade path, with the fx8350 your stuck with it, there is nothing you can upgrade to, and it's already 4 years old.

clockspeed is not everything. What you do with each clock cycle is important, and intel is better than AMD for this.

I had a look at the motherboard. Its out of stock at the moment but I'm not in a rush. It is cheaper then the motherboards for the Fx-8350 as well. I never thought of getting an intel but it seems like I am getting one. Overall I would have to add a little bit of money but it seems like a batter option, especially that I can go and upgrade it later!

Thanks a lot, this really helped me!
