Hi, I have trouble adding a second set of DDR3-1866 RAM.

After installation of the second set of 2x4GB G.SKill DD3-1866 (identical to first set)
the computer needed a three try boot up to get started
and I found it in BIOS it cycled the RAM down to 1333 after that.
When switching from the 1866 profile, setting to auto detect it starts straight away with 1333.
(The system was running fine on 1866 RAM speed with 2x4GB - one kit)

Well, the question is, what could be the reason?

And in case its not solveable, am I better off with 2x4GB DDR3 running on 1866 or 4x4GB running only on 1333 for gaming purposes?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the answers,
no joy with increasing the voltage.
Running:
- Intel Core i5 2500K 4x 3.30GHz So.1155
- ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3 Intel Z68 So.1155 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail
and the alleged culprits:
- two times: 8GB (2x 4096MB) G.Skill SNIPER DDR3-1866 DIMM CL9-10-9-28 Dual Kit
one kit bought 2/2012 and one recently. The tag on the backside of both packaging reads the exact same specification and other number codes.

Ok, will do. (VCCIO or DDRVTT and try raising it the same amount)

What do you mean by "see if the new set will work by itself" ? (EDIT: ok, I think I got this one now, with 'set' referring to the new DRAM set, will try

I have a VTT Voltage in the setup. I raised it from (auto) 1.057 to 1.094, w/o any sucess.

Then there is also a VCCSA Voltage running auto at 0.925. Which one was the one you referred to?

EDIT:
I also tested the new DRAM set by itself (putting them into A1 and B1, where the old ones resided and took those out completely) and it works ok with the old settings at 1866Mhz

(Did not test yet (because I don't know if it would make sense..):
- trying to run it using DRAM slots A2 and B2 only instead
- didn't touch VCCSA voltage yet
let me know, if you think I should try.

Took me awhile to be able to get back to this and retry.
For some unknown reason it suddenly works (w/o any voltage changes). Only difference is now, that the old set is sitting in A2 and B2, as I moved the new one to the first for single test.

Well, thanks Tradesman1 for the help anyway as I'd have never went for switching set slots as a test otherwise
and it also was good to get some knowledge on what can be tried i nsuch cases and that buying a second set of memory (even identical) there is no guarantee it will work.
